Specific Need

Goodfellows is one of Rice County’s longest-standing charitable organizations, providing Christmas gifts, food boxes, clothing, and essential items to families in need. As food prices continue to rise and more families register for assistance, Goodfellows is seeking additional donations to meet the growing demand. These gifts help families bridge the gap during the holiday season—especially when children are home from school and household expenses increase. Beyond Christmas, Goodfellows also supports families facing emergencies throughout the year, making community support essential to sustaining this vital work.

 

Mission

Our mission is to assist families during the Holiday season with gift boxes of food, new toy for each child, a new outfit for each child, gloves, hats, and personal hygiene items for each child.

Profile

Goodfellows is a volunteer-led nonprofit serving five communities across Northern Rice County—Lyons, Bushton, Geneseo, Little River, and Chase. For generations, caring volunteers have donated their time to make sure local families feel supported and remembered, especially during the Christmas season.

Each year, Goodfellows provides families with food, toys, clothing, and personal care items to help make the holidays brighter. But our work doesn’t stop there. We continue to assist families throughout the year when unexpected emergencies arise—whether due to a fire, illness, accident, job loss, or other hardship.

In 2025, we received nearly 350 requests for holiday assistance and served thousands of children and adults across our communities. We also provided emergency support families facing sudden crises.

Goodfellows remains committed to lifting up our neighbors in times of need, offering help, hope, and a reminder that Rice County takes care of its own.
