Rice County Collective

Specific Need

Rice County families are the heart of our community, yet many continue to face challenges finding reliable, high-quality early care and education. When childcare is scarce or unstable, parents struggle to stay in the workforce, employers feel the strain of absenteeism and turnover, and young children miss out on the strong start they deserve.

To ensure long-term stability for these vital services, the Collective’s first goal is to establish an endowed fund at the Rice County Community Foundation. This fund will serve as the cornerstone of a sustainable future for early care and education programs throughout our county—providing consistent support, reducing financial uncertainty, and helping providers focus on what matters most: caring for and educating our youngest learners.

We are seeking committed business partners who recognize that supporting childcare is not only an investment in employees, but an investment in the wellbeing of their families and the strength of our local economy. By contributing to this endowed fund, businesses can play a direct role in ensuring that Rice County remains a place where families can grow, employers can thrive, and every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Profile

Rice County Collective is a newly formed organization created to bring community partners together around some of our county’s most urgent and interconnected challenges—housing, childcare, healthcare, and education. Every day, families in Rice County face barriers that make it difficult to live, work, and thrive. Local employers struggle to recruit and retain workers due to limited housing options. Parents seeking employment or training often cannot find reliable, affordable childcare. Access to essential healthcare remains uneven, especially for vulnerable populations. And our education systems—while strong—cannot shoulder these burdens alone.

In partnership with regional and local organizations, Rice County Collective seeks to address these gaps through coordinated efforts that support our residents at every stage of life. By strengthening these core pillars of community wellbeing, we can create a healthier, more resiliant Rice County where every child, family, and neighbor has the opportunity to succeed.
